Writing tips
First Lines
The only purpose of the first line of anything you write is to get the reader to read the second line.
Outlining
Always outline your book before you start to write. This will eliminate writers block and create a template for your book.
Writing
Write your first draft all the way through. Do not stop to edit or change anything. Do not read what you just wrote.
Stories
Use stories in all of your non-fiction writing to create the emotional impact that sells your ideas and products.
The Lesson
Always end your book with a lesson or call to action. Tell your readers what to do with the information they just learned.
Kinds of Writing
There are only two kinds of writing.
Boring
and
Interesting
First Drafts
Give yourself permission to write a very bad first draft. You will fix it when you write the second draft.
Re-purposing
Use blog posts, articles, posts on Twitter, and newsletters as the basis for chapters in your book.
Personalize
Make sure your personality comes through in your book. The reader wants your opinions on the material you present.
Audiences
Write to the targeted audience of your choice. They will be the most receptive and may become your clients.
